Le Mans

Well, we've just got back from Le Mans where we went to watch the 24 hour race last weekend. We had an absolutely amazing time, despite the weather. It was terrible and chucked it down for practically the whole time we were there. It made for an interesting race though and the safety cars were out a few times just to make sure there were no serious accidents. Over 50 cars started but by the end of the race there were less than 30. The one I decided to support didn't make it to the end so that was disappointing but H was supporting the Aston Martin team (naturally!) and they came top of their class so he was celebrating at the end.

Aside from the race the trip was also fun. My first time in a tent for 20 years and I have to say that H wasn't lying when he said it wasn't as bad as I remembered it. Although the rain made everything muddy and I managed to bring some of the bugs home with me in the luggage! And talking of mud, I have a cracking picture of H in his boxers covered in mud after trying to get the car unstuck (but I'm sure our relationship would suffer if I posted it here...!). We also had an exciting episode in a supermarket carpark after I managed to lock the keys in the boot of the car...two hours later, with the help of a sturdy hammer, we drove back to the tent with a draft from one of the back windows...!Anyway, enjoy these picture and no doubt H will add some of all the shiny cars soon too.

This website right here is sort of a travel blog. A work in progress where I [howard] get to show off my photography skills and she [Alison] gets to be all poetic. This also serves as a service of sorts; keeping the world up to date with our various quests. Our first journey for this blog will start next Wednesday, 18th April. We are going to be driving up the coast of California, catching some pre-summer rays whilst taking in the view. To see some adventures from our recent travels, follow the link under "Places to go" down the right side of this page.
